Before there was video calling, pMD needed to support regular phone calls and messages. The voice calling feature was fairly straightforward as we had plenty of experience using our smartphones to call. This was one of my first large-t-shirt sized projects earlier on in my career with pMD.

After speaking with providers working at the hospitals and shadowing a few of them, I identified a problem that pMD could address. While walking around, the doctors would often have to stop to message their colleagues, but were often frustrated because of typos, auto-correct, or dictation issues. This was a lightbulb moment for sending voice messages. A recorded voice message would be quicker than typing, less prone to errors from dictation softwares, and easier to convey shorthand to another doctor. As a result, I designed a voice message feature for mobile, which quickly became the best way to send messages on the move without having to stare down at a screen.

Design is an interative process and all about the journey, so below is a snippet of an iterations that didn't make the cut.
